What is Kudani?

Kudani is a content marketing platform that allows you to create, curate, syndicate and publish content. It was created for entrepreneurs, small businesses and marketers so that they could manage their content marketing activities, build a library of feeds that they could access on demand, and to create fascinating stories based on trending content.

Where did the name Kudani come from?

Content marketing is all about storytelling. In fact, Chris Brogan recently called it, “weaponized storytelling”. To that end our mission was to create a tool that would help people create engaging stories and place it in reach of bloggers, marketers, agencies, and small businesses.

With storytelling in mind, I want to tell you how we came up with the name Kudani.

But before I do that let me just say that this is one of the most asked questions we get. So I thought it only fitting to share the story with everyone.

Now there is a little town in Estonia, called Kudani and for the most part people assume that’s where it came from. But that’s not it.

Let me tell you the real story.

It all started back in 2013.

Paul and I (Kirsi) set out on a mission to find the very best name ever. But let me tell you this was no easy undertaking. We had spreadsheets, Skype meetings, brainstorming sessions…yep you heard it here. As I said we were on a mission.

This was our criteria:

  1. Must be memorable.
  2. Must be short.
  3. And of course, must be available (as in the .com, .org, .net because Paul believes in getting the whole kit and caboodle)
  4. But here’s the tough one…must be somehow connected to content marketing and storytelling.

The goal was to explore different languages and try to find a play on words that of course needed to sound “cool”.

And finally after months of not getting anywhere…there it was as plain as day – Kudani.

Kudani comes from the Swahili language and is a play on words to mean ‘imagine’. Just take a peek in Google translate and you will see exactly what we did when you put in the word ‘imagine’. Pretty clever if I do say so myself.

And there you have it. The rest as they say is history.
